The requirements to enroll in the PCE exams to access Spanish universities are as follows:

Hold a high school’s degree or equivalent: To be eligible to enroll in the PCE, you must have completed secondary education and obtained a degree or its equivalent in your country of origin.

Diploma homologation: You will need certified copies of the degree or its equivalent and transcripts from the last two pre-university years, translated into Spanish and validated by the Embassy or Consulate of Spain in your country of origin.

¿What are the PCE Exams (Pruebas de Competencias Específicas)?

The PCE are exams that international students must take to access universities in Spain. These tests evaluate the specific knowledge and skills necessary to pursue university studies in the country.

The structure of the test varies depending on the university degree you wish to pursue and the city where you plan to study.

The PCE is divided into four modalities: Sciences, Health Sciences, Arts and Humanities, and Social and Legal Sciences. Each modality consists of several subjects that the student must be examined in, and each subject has a specific exam format, which may include multiple-choice questions, open-ended questions, and/or practical exercises.

Students can choose a maximum of 6 subjects based on the chosen modality and the subjects that carry more weight in the university they wish to access. The official recommendation is to choose a minimum of 4 subjects.

What's the difference between the PCE and EBAU Exams?

The PCE and the EBAU are Spanish University Entrance Exams that all students must take to be eligible for a spot at universities in Spain.

The Specific Skills Tests (Pruebas de Competencias Específicas in Spanish – PCE) are the exams that students with a high school diploma not issued in Spain must take in order to enter a Spanish university.
The Assessment of High School for University Access (Evaluación del Bachillerato para el Acceso a la Universidad in Spanish – EBAU or EvAU) are the exams that students with a high school diploma issued in Spain must take in order to enter a Spanish university.

Are the PCE very difficult?

Passing the University Entrance Exams is not difficult with good preparation. Aspiring to the highest possible grades will require more time and effort, which is why it’s important to have supportive tools.

How many exams do I have to take?

It depends on the Province and/or Autonomous Community where the university you want to attend is located.

Galicia: 2 exams
Madrid, Valencia, Burgos, Salamanca, Valladolid, Extremadura, and León: 4 exams
Catalonia, Andalusia, Basque Country, Cantabria, Canary Islands, La Rioja, Asturias, Aragon, Castilla la Mancha, and Navarra: 6 exams

What are the cutoff grades (notas de corte in Spanish)?

Each university degree has a limited number of places. The cutoff grades correspond to the grade with which the last student with a place in that degree was admitted the previous year. Therefore, they are only indicative; from one academic year to another, they may be subject to change.

Who should take the PCE?

The PCE is aimed at international students.

An international student refers to someone who has completed previous studies outside of Spain, regardless of their nationality.

These exams are necessary for students who are not part of the Spanish education system and wish to access universities in Spain.

Can I prepare for the PCE outside of Spain?

Yes, it is possible to prepare for the entrance exams for international students outside of Spain through online study programs, private lessons, or academies specialized in PCE preparation. Additionally, it is possible to take the exams at examination centers affiliated with the UNED in various countries.

I will be going to Granada in 2 days. In march I decided to look for organisations that I could travel to Spain with that would also include a study program. I googled around a... bit and didn't find anything good so I decided to go on TikTok to look for reviews or people sharing their experience with different organisations and that's when I found Go Go España. I was immediately shocked by their afforadble prices and how nice all the school and areas looked. I didn't hesitate and contacted their service email and got an answer within 24h. I had a few questions about Granada as a city and how the schools programs worked and things like that. I got a response from the organisation where they answered every single one of my questions and when new questions or concerns arose, I contacted the email and again got a response within 24h even though it says on their site it might take up to three days. I'm very happy with my choice and the help I've gotten with my accommodation, selection of school and such. I'm really looking forward to going to Spain for the first time on my own, I'm a bit nervous but I fully trust the organisation and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
