Well, just about everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n A quick list of those who can receive free healthcare is made up of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you fall into one of those categories, obtaining health insurance in Spain<\/strong> starts with the simple step of obtaining your TSI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Luckily, applying for a TSI is fairly straightforward!<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can complete the process after receiving a Spanish social security number or receiving your NIE<\/a><\/strong> (for non-Spanish citizens).<\/p>\n\n\n\n As you need to be registered as a legal Spanish resident to have access to healthcare, the NIE allows non-Spanish citizens to access the social security system, which then grants access to the public healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once you have your NIE, you\u2019ll want to download a certificate from the Social Security e-Office<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You\u2019ll navigate to the healthcare section to select \u201cConsultation of the right and issuing of the supporting document\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This section will allow you download the correct documentation<\/strong> showing that you have the right to obtain healthcare in Spain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n To apply, you\u2019ll simply need a valid ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Once you\u2019ve received your certificate stating that you\u2019re entitled to healthcare in Spain, you\u2019ll apply for an actual Spanish health care card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Some autonomous communities<\/strong> do allow applications to be submitted online, but you must already have your identification information in the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For first-time applicants, or applicants from abroad, this method might not be possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Conversely, applications can always be completed at the primary healthcare center<\/strong> local to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While there, you\u2019ll need to bring four pieces of documentation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n For EU and EEA citizens, showing proof of residency can be completed through something called a Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Uni\u00f3n Europea<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This document can only be obtained in Spain<\/strong> and acts as residency proof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A Certificado is necessary for EU\/EEA citizens who will be staying in Spain for any period of time longer than 3 months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Upon completion of your application, your Spanish healthcare card<\/strong> will be sent to whatever address you put on file within two to three weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Voil\u00e0!
