We learned that verbs are doing\/action words and every sentence has one. In this Spanish Lesson 5 we will focus on another very important <strong>Spanish verb Tener To Have<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>El verbo Tener (The verb To Have)<\/h2>\n<p>Let\u2019s see how to use this verb for <em>Yo<\/em> (I), <em>T\u00fa<\/em> (You), <em>\u00c9l<\/em> (He) and <em>Ella<\/em> (She):<\/p>\n<p>(Yo) Tengo: I have<br \/>\n(T\u00fa) Tienes: You have<br \/>\n(\u00c9l\/Ella) Tiene: He\/She has<\/p>\n<p>As explained in the previous lesson, the pronouns <em>Yo, T\u00fa, \u00c9l, Ella<\/em> are all in brackets because they are optional.<\/p>\n<h4>To practice using <em>Tener<\/em> let&#8217;s first learn some useful Spanish vocabulary:<\/h4>\n<p>Perro: Dog<br \/>\nBicicleta: Bicycle<br \/>\nOrdenador: Computer<br \/>\nReloj: Watch<br \/>\nGuitarra: Guitar<br \/>\nGato: Cat<br \/>\nTel\u00e9fono M\u00f3vil: Mobile phone<br \/>\nCoche: Car<\/p>\n<p>We are going to make some sentences now using this new vocabulary and the <a href=\"https:\/\/gogoespana.com\/en\/blog\/numbers-in-spanish-1-100\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spanish numbers 1-100<\/a> we learned in Lesson 3:<\/p>\n<p>Yo tengo dos perros: I have two dogs<br \/>\nT\u00fa tienes tres gatos: You have three cats<br \/>\n\u00c9l tiene cuatro guitarras: He has four guitars<br \/>\nElla tiene cinco tel\u00e9fonos m\u00f3viles: She has five mobile phones<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25662\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25662\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25662 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gogoespana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Spanish-verb-Tener-To-Have-Spanish-Lesson.jpg\" alt=\"Spanish verb Tener To Have Spanish Lesson\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25662\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8220;Yo tengo dos perros&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>You will see that with plural nouns (things) in Spanish we add <strong>S<\/strong> if the noun ends in a vowel and <strong>ES<\/strong> if the noun ends in a consonant.<\/p>\n<h4>Let\u2019s practice making some questions and negative sentences using <em>Tener<\/em> and our new vocabulary:<\/h4>\n<p>\u00bfTienes perros?: Do you have dogs?<br \/>\nS\u00ed, tengo dos perros: Yes, I have two dogs<br \/>\nNo, no tengo perrros: No, I don\u2019t have dogs<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfTienes bicicleta? Do you have a bicycle?<br \/>\nS\u00ed, tengo tres bicicletas: Yes, I have three bicycles<br \/>\nNo, no tengo bicicleta: No, I don\u2019t have a bicycle<\/p>\n<p>As explained in the previous lesson, when making questions in Spanish you don\u2019t have to do anything more than put your regular\/positive sentence in questions marks if you are writing and make the intonation of a question if you are speaking. And, to make a sentence negative, we add <strong>No<\/strong> before the verb.<\/p>\n<p>That is all for this lesson about the <strong>Spanish verb Tener To Have<\/strong>. Please try to practice what you have learned by creating your own similar sentences using <em>Tener<\/em>.
