In our previous lesson we used regular verbs to practice using <a href=\"https:\/\/gogoespana.com\/en\/blog\/the-days-of-the-week-in-spanish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Days of the Week in Spanish<\/a>. Present tense is used to describe usual\/general actions, so we will be talking about things we usually\/generally do in the specific months of the year.<\/p>\n<h3>First of all let\u2019s learn <strong>The Months in Spanish<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n<p>Enero: January<br \/>\nFebrero: February<br \/>\nMarzo: March<br \/>\nAbril: April<br \/>\nMayo: May<br \/>\nJunio: June<br \/>\nJulio: July<br \/>\nAgosto: August<br \/>\nSeptiembre: September<br \/>\nOctubre: October<br \/>\nNoviembre: November<br \/>\nDiciembre: December<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31475 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gogoespana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/the-months-in-spanish-calendar.png\" alt=\"the months in spanish calendar\" width=\"609\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Some other relevant vocabulary to<strong> The Months in Spanish<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>El mes: Month<br \/>\nEl a\u00f1o: Year<br \/>\nEl d\u00eda: Day<br \/>\nLa semana: Week<br \/>\nLa fecha: Date<\/p>\n<p>El invierno: Winter<br \/>\nLa primavera: Spring<br \/>\nEl verano: Summer<br \/>\nEl oto\u00f1o: Autumn<\/p>\n<h3>Dates in Spanish<\/h3>\n<p>First let&#8217;s see how to state dates in Spanish and how to state in which month you do something:<\/p>\n<p>En enero\/febrero\/marzo\/etc&#8230;: In January\/February\/March\/etc&#8230;<br \/>\nFor example: En agosto no trabajo: I don&#8217;t work in August<\/p>\n<p>El (date) de (month): The (date) of (month)<br \/>\nEl cinco de marzo: The 5th of March<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, we use <em>En<\/em> if we wish to state<em> In<\/em> which month we do something or something happens. And when we state dates we use <em>El<\/em> for <em>The<\/em> (referring to the day) and <em>De<\/em> for <em>Of<\/em> (referring to the month).<\/p>\n<p>When you state dates in Spanish you use the same numbers 1-31 that we learned in <a href=\"https:\/\/gogoespana.com\/en\/blog\/numbers-in-spanish-1-100\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lesson 3: Numbers 1-100<\/a> of this Spanish Course. We don&#8217;t use first, second, third, fourth, etc. We use El uno de&#8230;, el dos de&#8230;, el tres de&#8230;, el cuatro de&#8230;<\/p>\n<h3>Let\u2019s practice using\u00a0<strong>The Months in Spanish<\/strong> with some regular Spanish verbs<\/h3>\n<p>Trabajar: To work<br \/>\nComprar: To buy<br \/>\nEstudiar: To study<br \/>\nCocinar: To cook<br \/>\nBeber: To drink<br \/>\nAndar: To walk<br \/>\nViajar: To travel<br \/>\nLavar: To wash<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31482 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gogoespana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/the-months-in-spanish-presents.jpg\" alt=\"the months in spanish presents\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Some example sentences:<\/h3>\n<p>En diciembre compro regalos para Navidad: In December I buy presents for Christmas<br \/>\nEn julio siempre viajo a Sudam\u00e9rica: In July I always travel to South America<br \/>\nEn abril trabajo mucho en el jard\u00edn: In April I work a lot in the garden<br \/>\nEn mayo normalmente estudio para mis ex\u00e1menes: In May I usually study for my exams<br \/>\nEn septiembre lavo mi ropa de verano: In September I wash my summer clothes<br \/>\nEn noviembre cocino muchas sopas: In November I cook lots of soups<br \/>\nEn junio bebemos bebidas fr\u00edas: In June we drink cold drinks<br \/>\nNosotros andamos en las monta\u00f1as en octubre: We walk in the mountains in October<\/p>\n<p>Like the days of the week, <strong>The Months in Spanish<\/strong> are really useful to know. Practice making lots of your own sentences in Spanish to learn how to use them and the present tense by repetition.
