We have learned that adjectives are words that describe nouns (things), are usually positioned after their noun, and can change depending on the gender of the noun they describe. Now we are going to see lots of useful <strong>Examples of Spanish Adjectives in use<\/strong> to further clarify and reinforce your understanding.<\/p>\n<p>There are various types of Spanish Adjectives: descriptive, relational, possessive, superlative, and adjectives that serve as nouns.<\/p>\n<h2>Descriptive Adjectives in Spanish<\/h2>\n<p>Descriptive Adjectives describe a noun\u2019s qualities. These can be physical (shape, colour, size etc.) and abstract (personality, state of being, characteristics etc.)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32930 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gogoespana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Examples-of-Spanish-Adjectives-in-use-shoes.jpg\" alt=\"Examples of Spanish Adjectives in use\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Example sentences:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los zapatos son marrones: The shoes are brown<\/p>\n<p>Mar\u00eda era muy traviesa cuando era peque\u00f1a: Mar\u00eda was very naughty when she was young.<\/p>\n<p>Me gustar\u00eda tener un perro peque\u00f1o: I would like to have a small dog<\/p>\n<h2>Relational Adjectives in Spanish<\/h2>\n<p>Relational Adjectives classify\/group\/categorise the nouns they describe.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example sentences:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tengo que comprar una cuchara sopera: I need to buy a soup spoon<\/p>\n<p>Estoy leyendo una novela hist\u00f3rica: I am Reading a historic book<\/p>\n<p>Antes me gustaba las pel\u00edculas rom\u00e1nticas: Before I used to like romantic movies<\/p>\n<h2>Possessive Adjectives in Spanish<\/h2>\n<p>Possessive Adjectives indicate who or what possesses something. There are two kinds of Possessive Adjectives: Short Form and Long Form. Long Form Possessive Adjectives are placed after their noun they modify and Short Form Possessive Adjectives are placed before the noun they modify.<\/p>\n<h3>Short-form Possessive Adjectives in Spanish<\/h3>\n<p>Mi\/s: My<\/p>\n<p>Tu\/s: Your<\/p>\n<p>Su\/s: His\/Her\/Its<\/p>\n<p>Nuestro\/a\/s: Our<\/p>\n<p>Vuestro\/a\/s: Your<\/p>\n<p>Su\/s: Their<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example sentences:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00bfD\u00f3nde est\u00e1n tus amigos?: Where are your friends?<\/p>\n<p>Nuestra hija est\u00e1 estudiando en la universidad: Our daughter is studying at university.<\/p>\n<p>Mi hermana vino a verme la semana pasada: Mi sister came to see me last week.<\/p>\n<h3>Long-form Possessive Adjectives in Spanish<\/h3>\n<p>M\u00edo\/M\u00edos\/M\u00eda\/M\u00edas: Mine<\/p>\n<p>Tuyo\/Tuyos\/Tuya\/Tuyas: Yours<\/p>\n<p>Suyo\/Suyos\/Suya\/Suyas: His\/Hers\/Its<\/p>\n<p>Nuestro\/Nuestros\/Nuestra\/Nuestras: Ours<\/p>\n<p>Vuestro\/Vuestros\/Vuestra\/Vuestras: Yours<\/p>\n<p>Suyo\/Suyos\/Suya\/Suyas: Theirs<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example sentences:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Esta chaqueta es m\u00eda: This jacket is mine.<\/p>\n<p>Coge mi coche. El tuyo no tiene gasolina: Take my car, yours hasn\u2019t got petrol.<\/p>\n<p>El hijo de Susana es muy buen estudiante, pero el m\u00edo nunca quiere estudiar: Susana\u2019s son is a very good student,\u00a0 but mine never wants to study.<\/p>\n<h2>Superlative Adjectives in Spanish<\/h2>\n<p>Superlative Adjectives stress an exceptional property of a noun and are formed by adding -\u00edsimo\/-\u00edsima\/-\u00edsimos\/-\u00edsimas to the adjective which translates to very\/so\/incredibly\/extremely\/etc in English.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-32938 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gogoespana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/Examples-of-Spanish-Adjectives-in-use-paella.jpg\" alt=\"Examples of Spanish Adjectives in use\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Example sentences:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Esta paella est\u00e1 riqu\u00edsima: This paella is very tasty.<\/p>\n<p>No me gust\u00f3 nada la pel\u00edcula, fue aburrid\u00edsima: I did not like the movie at all, it was very boring.<\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de la carrera, los corredores estaban cansad\u00edsimos: After the race, the runners were very tired.<\/p>\n<h2>Adjectives which serve as nouns<\/h2>\n<p>Most adjectives can also be used as nouns. In English, this is usually translated as: The (adjective) one. Often adjectives are used as nouns to refer to a previously mentioned noun. To use an adjective as a noun you must add an article and be careful that it matches the gender and number of the noun.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Example sentences<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00bfTe gusta la falda verde o la falda negra? Me gusta la negra: Do you like the green skirt or the black skirt? I like the black one.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfHas visto las nuevas zapatillas de Nike Air? He comprado ya las m\u00e1s caras: Have you seen the new Nike trainers? I\u2019ve already bought the most expensive ones.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfTe pongo aceitunas verdes o negras? En mi opini\u00f3n, las verdes est\u00e1n m\u00e1s ricas: Shall I give you green or black olives?
